BNS 2026.05.15 17:13

North Macedonia will establish an embassy in Vilnius, the Lithuanian foreign ministry said on Friday.

"This will not only reinforce the bonds between our two countries but also open new opportunities for closer cooperation in security, economy, and culture, while promoting more active people-to-people contacts," the ministry said.

The ministry also reaffirmed Lithuania's support for North Macedonia’s European Union membership aspirations, urging the European Union to maintain the credibility and pace of the enlargement process.

"Lithuania is ready to continue actively sharing its integration experience and practical solutions to help implement EU standards, strengthen institutions, and build resilience against external threats," it said.

Lithuania and North Macedonia established diplomatic relations in 1995. In December 2023, Lithuania opened a branch office of its embassy to Croatia in Skopje, headed by Vilma Dambrauskienė.
